Meet Adam Vokac

Adam Vokac Performing Laser-Induced Fluorescence Experiment at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

I am well qualified for the position of President, having served the MEBA for 7 years as Executive Vice President and 3 years as the Honolulu Representative prior to that. I graduated Kings Point as valedictorian in June of 2000, and signed up for the MEBA in the New York Hall that very same day. I sailed out of the LA Hall for a year, and later went to Boston and earned two Master's Degrees from MIT in Mechanical Engineering and in Ocean Systems Management. I then returned to sailing, this time out of the Honolulu Hall

I have sea time on RoRos, tankers, container ships, cruise vessels, and even a USN aircraft carrier. I have worked on Steam, Diesel, Gas Turbine, and Nuclear vessel plants, traveling much of the world as most of our members also have and during that time I obtained my unlimited CE license.

I have used my 8 years sailing with the MEBA, and additional 10 years representing the MEBA in the Halls, to build company relations, improve my negotiating skills and contract knowledge base, to effectively represent our membership and demand the respect the MEBA deserves.

I am married and lucky to have three beautiful children, ages 8, 4, and 2. I am an active father, and coach my son's soccer and baseball teams. I play recreational hockey in Oakland on a weekly basis and when travel allows, and have done so since moving to Oakland 7 years ago.
